For Hypertherm, the idea that “less is more” applies not only to internal development, but—above all—to the world around us. Many global corporations still struggle to align their operations with environmental responsibility. This is why initiatives undertaken by companies like Hypertherm deserve genuine recognition and support.
Hypertherm’s Responsibility
Hypertherm designs and manufactures industrial cutting systems used across multiple industries, including shipbuilding, vehicle manufacturing, and repair. Their portfolio includes cutting systems as well as CNC controllers, motion and height controls, CAM nesting software, robotic system software, and consumables.
Can a company operating in such a heavy industrial segment contribute meaningfully to environmental protection?
The answer is yes—and Hypertherm proves it.
The company’s systems are known for efficiency and reliability, enabling higher productivity and profitability for hundreds of thousands of businesses worldwide. At the same time, Hypertherm embraces a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility. An impressive 98.2% of all waste generated by Hypertherm does not go to landfills, the company’s best result since 2010. Engineering improvements have reduced water consumption, and 99.5% of system components are recyclable. Even the packaging is 100% recyclable.
A Business Supporting the Environment
Today, the attitude of companies that optimize their operations in environmentally responsible ways is more important than ever. In its annually published Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report—a tradition continued through its fifty-year history—Hypertherm presents outstanding achievements.
Their CSR commitment spans several areas: engagement in local communities, environmental stewardship, and a strong focus on employee health and safety. Since 2017, every employee-owner is granted additional paid time off that can be used for volunteer work.
The company’s efforts start within its own walls. While the industry average for workplace accidents is around 4.1%, Hypertherm reported a significantly lower figure of 1.9% just two years ago.
Learning From the Best
How does Otinus respond to such initiatives? Even with smaller resources, we draw inspiration from leaders like Hypertherm and continue to strengthen our involvement in local efforts.
Most recently, we took part in a community action—*“Cleaning the Forest”*—where we helped remove waste from the Bydgoszcz Forest area. Activities like this give us an opportunity to make a tangible difference. And we certainly won’t stop at one initiative—there is still much more we can contribute.
